Terms of Service

Acceptance and current service
These terms apply when you download, install, access, or use MarkDeck. By using MarkDeck, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
MarkDeck can open and read Markdown, text, PDF, and EPUB documents; edit and save Markdown; organize a local library; and provide reading features such as themes, bookmarks, highlights, notes, search, reading progress, and export where available. Features may vary by platform, document type, app version, and Free or Pro access. Local reading does not require a MarkDeck account.
License and permitted use
MarkDeck grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for lawful personal or business purposes, subject to these terms and the rules of the app store through which you obtained it. MarkDeck, its design, software, brand, and included materials remain protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. No ownership rights are transferred to you.
Your content
You keep your rights in documents, annotations, messages, and other content you provide. You give MarkDeck only the permission needed for the feature you choose. You are responsible for having the right to use that content, deciding what to open or transmit, and keeping suitable backup copies. MarkDeck does not guarantee recovery of a damaged, unsupported, deleted, remote, or externally changed file. Remote links and resources may be subject to their destination's terms and availability.
Optional sync and connected storage
Sync is optional and connects to storage you control. When enabled, MarkDeck may transmit selected documents, account identifiers, and sync metadata needed to provide it. Sync depends on network access and the connected service. Disconnecting stops future access by MarkDeck but does not delete copies that remain in storage you control. You remain responsible for those copies, permissions, conflicts, and backups.
Free, Pro, ads, and purchases
MarkDeck may offer Free functionality supported by ads and Pro functionality through a subscription, trial, or one-time purchase. Available products, prices, taxes, renewal terms, and eligibility are shown before purchase and may vary by platform or region. Purchases, billing, cancellation, refunds, and payment credentials are handled by the app store under its terms; MarkDeck does not receive your card details. Use the store or the app's purchase controls to manage or cancel subscriptions and restore eligible purchases. Ads and measurement remain subject to the consent and system controls available to you.
Acceptable use
You must not use MarkDeck to break the law or another person's rights; distribute harmful code; interfere with the app or related services; bypass security, purchase, access, or advertising controls; misrepresent affiliation with MarkDeck; or redistribute or resell the app outside authorized channels. Do not reverse engineer or circumvent technical restrictions except where applicable law expressly permits it.
Availability, changes, and termination
Offline local functions and online functions have different dependencies. Online sync, imports, feedback, purchases, ads, notifications, and remote resources may be unavailable because of connectivity, maintenance, platform rules, or external service changes. MarkDeck may fix, add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and may restrict access when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or a material breach of these terms. Appropriate notice will be given when required.
Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, MarkDeck is provided “as is” and “as available” without a guarantee that every document will render perfectly or that service will be uninterrupted or error-free. You are responsible for reviewing important edits, exports, and backups. To the extent permitted by law, MarkDeck is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits warranties, remedies, consumer rights, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change when MarkDeck's features or legal obligations change. The effective date will be updated and material changes will be communicated through an appropriate surface when required. Continued use after revised terms take effect means you accept them, unless applicable law requires another form of consent.
